Spitting Out One Chunk and Biting Off Another

Well, yesterday was my last day teaching at the preschool, for at least a year. I have really enjoyed it, but I always feel like there are things I am missing out on with my girls.

Those who know me well, know that I can't sit still for long. So, I have bitten off a couple of other things to keep me out of trouble. I am thrilled that I will be serving as the Hospitality Chair for Michaela's school next year. As a teacher, I have always greatly appreciated this position!!! Now I get to give back. Also, I can get my nose in the school and be all in Michaela's business!!!!

The other chunk is a big one. I have decided to run the Houston marathon this January, the full 26.2 this time. Thankfully, God answered my prayers and sent me a running partner. Jackie is a great friend who I know from church and always feel like I don't get to spend enough time with, so I am super-excited! Jackie and I have decided to do this run to raise money for the American Cancer Society. Jackie recently lost her aunt to cancer. And those who know me, know cancer has affected so many people I love. Here is the web address to my personal page. I can't get the link to work so you'll have to copy and paste into your browser window. Sorry:(

Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas from all of us! We are having a simply wonderful Christmas Day! Last night we got all dressed up, went to church, had 'fancy dinner,' and opened presents from family. Today, we are enjoying all Santa's goodies in our pjs. We had tamales, taquitos, and nachos for our holiday feast! Yummo!

We all want to thank our family for the wonderful gifts the girls received. They absolutely LOVED everything and have declared it to be 'the best Christmas ever!' We miss all of the Marcums, Hicks, Kagilierys, Wheatleys, and Kerseys very much! We are sorry to be so far away, but thankful you never forget us! We are really looking forward to our trip up north this summer.

Here are a few pics...

A Time for Counting Our Blessings

Well, for us the crazy part of the Christmas season is mostly past and all that is left to do is relax and enjoy! Here are just a few pix of what we have been up to. There will be more to come, I promise...

all ready for her dance recital
Dancing to "O Holy Night." That is my baby on the far left.

Meggy in the second grade Thanksgiving program. Her line was, "He spoke not a wod, but went stwaight to his wok. Cauved up the tukey and then tuwned with a jek." Yep, lots of 'r's in there and she didn't hit a one.... It was so sweet, I cried.

We Love Disney!!!!!

So we just got home from another fantastic Disney vacation. I wish I could say it was relaxing, but now that the girls have more stamina, we were on the go the whole time! I think part of it was that the parks were so empty that there were no lines so it was tempting to just run from ride to ride. Or, do the same ride again, and again, and again, and again! I think we are on a first name basis with the ride operators for Splash Mountain and Thunder Mountain Railroad. This is our second trip and I feel the same as I did after the first one.... we got more than we bargained for thanks to good planning, and there is so much that we didn't get to do that I am looking forward to doing next time. Some of you know that I LOVE planning and I REALLY LOVE planning Disney vacations. In fact, I am thinking about doing a blog just about that subject! I always hate it when people come back disappointed from a Disney trip because they didn't do the research ahead of time. Anyway, if you ever need advice on the subject, you know who to ask:)

But, here is what you really came for... pix of my adorable girls in their ears at the happiest place on Earth!

The new house

Well, we did it! We are officially moved! It has been a 10 month adventure. We started with lots of work to the old house throughout last October. Had the house on the market November through April. Spent May moving out of the old house and into our temporary house. Moved into the new house in June. Spent most of June getting done with painting, replacing floors and countertops, and having the cabinets refinished. And yet, somewhere between 3 vacations and 2 birthday parties, I have finally managed to unpack. The new house is home!

I've Been Busy!

Yes, I know, it has been a while. But, we are HOME, finally. After months of packing and living out of boxes, we are home. Our new house is great and we are almost done with the 'renovations.' And it has been a lot of work, but we have made some time to enjoy it!

I promise more pix and updates are coming, but the girlies and I are headed up north next week so it may be a while!
